Welcome to Oderberg

Oderberg is an idyllic small town at the northern edge of the Oder Marshlands. The "Alte Oder" and the steep hill-slopes with a height above 40 meters gave the city its name. The vast forests around Oderberg belong to the largest contiguous forest area of Germany, to the biosphere reservation area Schorfheide Chorin.

With only 28 inhabitants per square kilometre our area is one of the most sparsely populated areas of Germany. Here you will find an extremely species-rich animal and plant life. The diverse landscape offers fantastic conditions to nature lovers and hikers. Once the city was known as a spa resort with a healthy climate. Each week thousands of tourists revived here and enjoyed the iron-rich wells, which were said to be curative.

Today Oderberg is a rural town with only 2600 inhabitants. Some of them are truly talented. On many well-attended events in and around Oderberg they are really spirit-raising. Numerous world-known sights in the proximity of Oderberg make our city an ideal starting point for further discoveries.

Location

You find the city of Oderberg in the northeast of Germany, in the state of Brandenburg, which encloses Berlin spaciously. In the easternmost part, in the district of Barnim, lies Oderberg. From Berlin you can reach Oderberg in about an hour. Just follow the federal road B158 towards Bad Freienwalde. If you journey by train, you have to change for a bus in Eberswalde, Bad Freienwalde or Angermünde. Regular buses start from these cities to Oderberg about 5 times a day.
